As with many photographers, winter can be a time of growth. I decided to use my “down time” to meet new vendors, change my business vision, and update all the behind the scenes actions. So, no it hasn’t really been slow, but it has been amazing. I used some of my free time to organize a styled shoot, and it made my heart full and my cheeks hurt from smiling.
I met Darien, with DE Media Design, last summer as we were working a wedding together. I was the photographer, she was the videographer. We instantly clicked, no pun intended. We shared vision, humor, and hustle. I knew right away I wanted to do more weddings together. Luckily, many brides liked us both and since then we have had quite a few together!
I love getting to work with friends. She has even come along side me as a second shooter, and her still shots are just as good as her film. As I dabble in video she supports me, as she grows her business I choose to support her, because community over competition is key.
We had an idea to swap some services and the idea grew into a styled shoot. Things fell together so smoothly and quickly, we now want to do one monthly. It is a great way to play and find what you like, without fear of messing up a real time session, or wedding.
We were able to also highlight some other new Fort Wayne vendors, even some that aren’t in the wedding world! I encourage you to follow the links at the end of this post to support our local businesses.
The venue we shot in is actually a furniture store, House to Home, and is located in an amazing warehouse. I only stopped and looked at the super affordable furniture like 78.5 times. Seriously, their inventory is ever changing and is worth the look.
Mandy, half of the florist team from Floracultured, was the cherry on top of this styled session. I met her the weekend before the session. See, she is currently branding and preparing to take on more florist jobs and I happened to tag along with another amazing photographer friend, Jenna Stoller, to help shoot and be extra hands during the content session. I asked if they would be willing to let me take a few small bouquets to highlight in my session the following week. They made me three, then Mandy was free to come and help style on the day of the session. A great example of, “It does not dim your light to help ignite the flame of somebody else.” Thank you Mandy.
My dear friends Eden and Caleb have been modeling for me for a while. As my business grew and I needed marketing materials, they were there. Plus, their love for each other can be seen on film, and in person. They recently started sharing their passion for cooking and supporting people through fitness and healthy meals, check them out on Instagram, @feedingthenobles
Thank you for following along as I showcased these great people and places. It was so much fun to flex my photographer muscle in order to be stronger for my 2019 brides, and beyond. Stay tuned for more posts like this, as we already have another idea going for March 2019.
