I can’t believe it.
I have a job that allows me to come along side people, and be a fly on the wall on some of the most important days of their lives. Shey and Drew, from the engagement session, wedding day, maternity session and to this very important session: Baby Lola, they have welcomed me with open arms and I will forever remember them.
One of my favorite things to ask when I arrive is: “How was labor!?”
This will get them (mom and dad) talking as a team. She will start with how she knew she was in labor, he will chime in with how he found out, they will comment on time it took to get to the hospital… and so it goes. Their story was similar. Except, Lola was early and things moved so fast for a first born. Shey ended up not having an epidural, which was not part of the plan. She told me all this and I was so amazed. She did it, not planned, but still did it. I love these stories of strength and power.
I also love the “So how did you land on this name?” – I was really wondering this since they wouldn’t tell me the name at their maternity session [to see their maternity session click here] so I was excited to hear the story!
Little girl earned her name from a long line of strong woman, and I can’t wait to see the things she accomplishes. The quilt above is from part of her namesake.
You will also see their fur baby in many shots. Bennie was very excited to show of the baby, and after settling down, we were able to capture this family shot. I too have fur babes and love this shot!
Many of the remaining images take place in one of the most amazing nurseries I have ever seen. So simple and perfect. I have always crushed on Shey’s taste in decor and design of classroom assignments, even her wedding was so perfect. So this nursery did not disappoint.
