Business Clean Up – Day 29 – Email List Time

Task #29: Start an email list.

If you are anything like me, you thought email lists were for companies or people who had products to sell. These lists were not for client services. False.

I use my CRM, Iris Works, to work my clients through workflows. They are used to getting emails from me about a session, about paying an invoice, even with links to help them be prepared for mini sessions coming up, why not use that email to also support them throughout the year, NOT just for sessions.

I use Flodesk to create emails for service clients and for education clients. I love that I can serve these groups and guess what, if my social media were to POOF, go away one day, I can still EASILY contact my loyal client base without worrying about anything.

I have a code for 50% off your Flodesk membership, and I can’t tell you how amazing it is to be able to just email out a quick reminder about mini sessions and for it to fill up, not marketing on Instagram or Facebook needed.

A few tips:

  1. Be sure you are asking for permission before putting someone on an email list. When someone reaches out for more information they are pushed a client questionnaire. On there I ask permission!
  2. No, you don’t have to send weekly newsletters. My goal is to send a “What is happening” email once a quarter, and a “Freebie” of sorts every other month.
  3. You can even have people sign up to get emails with a link on your website, or on social media.

I can’t stress enough how this list has changed the way I market and how it helped me release stress about followers, algorithms, and creating new content! It has helped me focus in on my current clients, and love them more.

You can always build it a little at a time, just make an email segment for 2021 Brides so you can send them fun reminders outside of you normal workflow in your CRM.
